Yangtze River Suddenly Turns Blood Red
"Behold, o ye readers, and feast your eyes!  You shall see not even the mighty Yangtze River, deep in the hidden heart of Mao China can overcome the power of God! The river runs red with the blood of slain demons!  God is having the angels sound the warning trumpets of America’s great return and is warning China to not follow the Democratic National Convention and their overlord, Barack Hussein Obama!" -Reverend Clyde H. Higgins

The red began appearing in the Yangtze, the longest and largest river in China and the third longest river in the world, Thursday near the city of Chongquing, where the Yangtze connects to the Jialin River.

The Yangtze, called “golden” because of the heavy rainfall it receives year-round, runs through Chongqing, Southwest China’s largest industrial and commercial center, also known as the “mountain city” because of the hills and peaks upon which its many buildings and factories stand.

The environmental protection department speculated that this may be due to river sand brought from upstream during flood season.

These articles entered the mainstream because none of the major media sources bothered to investigate the validity of the original photographs. The authors saturated the red color to such a degree that they do indeed look alarming. These major media networks did not do even the minimum amount of investigative journalism.

The Germans took over 80 years to build this 918m (3,000 ft) bridge over the Elbe river near the town of Magdeburg. Canal engineers had first conceived of joining the two waterways as far back as 1919, and by 1938 the Rothensee boat lift and bridge anchors were in place, but construction was postponed during World War II. After the Cold War split Germany, the project was put on hold indefinitely by the East German government.
With the reunification of Germany and major establishment of water transport routes made the Water Bridge a priority again. Work started in 1997, with construction taking six years and costing €500 million. The water bridge now connects Berlin’s inland harbour network with the ports along the Rhine river. The aqueduct's trough structure incorporates 24,000 tonnes of steel and 68,000 cubic meters of concrete. The Magdeburg water bridge was opened in 2003.

This is an x-ray of a freshwater stingray species
discovered in 2011 in the Amazon rain forest.
The new species is known as Heliotrygon gomesi. Besides the pancake-like appearance, the ray is big (0.5 meter), with slits on its belly and a tiny spine on its tail. The stingrays may be relics of a time when ocean water and wildlife inundated parts of South America tens of millions of years ago. When the saltwater retreated, some marine species stayed, evolving into new freshwater forms.

Incredible X-rays of Real-Life Monsters of the Deep
Fish can be extremely strange looking creatures, with odd appendages and body shapes unfamiliar to us land animals. Their peculiarities aren't limited to their outer appearance, either — as these ghostly, almost alien-looking X-rays of various underwater creatures prove.

Breaking the distance record wasn't the scientists' primary goal though. This experiment provides the basis for a worldwide information network, in which quantum mechanical effects enable the exchange of messages with greater security, and allow certain calculations to be performed more efficiently than with conventional technologies. In such a future "quantum internet", quantum teleportation will be a key protocol for the transmission of information between quantum computers.
