I remember that nite well. Was glued to the TV with my trusty 35MM camera on a tripod in front, set at 1/30 sec exposure time---still have the slides from those historic moment. I can recall my grandfather's words that evening "men are just getting to damn smart". Didn't understand that reaction then, but time has slowly revealed some of the wisdom behind his words.

Project Orion should never have been cancelled. We could have had bases on the moon, mars and probes sent to alpha centauri.
