Mainstream Press has Gone Batshit Crazy !

If information is the oxygen of democracy, the United States has just been gassed, not by weapons of mass destruction but by a weapon of mass distraction . . .

The elite media, sometimes called the agenda-setting media because they are the ones with the big resources, they set the framework in which everyone else operates. The New York Times and CBS, that kind of thing. Their audience is mostly privileged people. The people who read the New York Times—people who are wealthy or part of what is sometimes called the political class—they are actually involved in the political system in an ongoing fashion.

The elite media set a framework within which others operate. If you are watching the Associated Press, who grind out a constant flow of news, in the mid-afternoon it breaks and there is something that comes along every day that says “Notice to Editors: Tomorrow’s New York Times is going to have the following stories on the front page.”

The cool thing about blogging is that everybody has a voice. It can be as LOUD as you want it to be.

Your voice can change the world. We are no longer slaves to the mass media

A blogger's voice can now jump boarders in a single bound

Our collective voices are recording the people's history book

Your voice is a good current event source

Law makers are learning that your voice is now more important than a vote!

Your blogging voice is now the "moral majority"

In the 1980s, there were over 50 media companies. Today, just six control almost all of the news and entertainment and they are all big political donors. The majority of the 24/7 news cycle pushes politics with an emphasis on negativity often portraying x-issue in a black and white way.

At best, the anger whipped up is addictive to most people: it brings in more ratings. At worst, the media (especially the alphabet networks) are acting as demagogues, maximizing emotionalism and minimizing reason.

Even Fox News engages in this behavior, just for establishment Republicans.
